I like the idea of it. However, I am waiting for them to let me pick only certain things. I am not a steak or roast lover and the only beef I really like is ground beef or tenderloin. They are going to let me know when I can get an all ground beef box. 🙂

I received my first ButcherBox a week ago and am still evaluating the cuts I received. So far, I’ve been thrilled with the thin-sliced beef steak and ground beef. Thin-sliced steaks cook in the same time as a fried egg, making a snap of switching away from my long-time habit of a cup of coffee and slice of wheat toast every morning. Steak and eggs is way more satisfying, especially on a little bed of zoodles. Hubby’s favorite dinner of hamburger gravy on mashed potatoes is only a small switch to cauli-mash (with mozzarella for a more potato-like texture and taste).
I notice our ButcherBox meat isn’t full of water that has to be steamed off before it can start browning the way grocery-store beef all is these days. ButcherBox meat comes in small packages that defrost overnight in the fridge, so there’s always something that’s ready to cook on short notice. Simply not having to plan, shop for, haul home and put away the meat makes my grocery shopping easier. I have arthritis and standing on line gets painful when I have to do “big shopping.” We’re looking forward to the big loin pork chops, chicken breasts and gorgeous thick steaks next.
I was worried that I might not get my money’s worth with ButcherBox because the cost seems high when viewed a month at a time, but the savings in time and effort plus the ease of meal prep and delicious meaty dishes we’re enjoying have me convinced to continue this wonderful new way of shopping and easing our way into the keto way of eating.
