Pure Protein Porridge (High Protein Porridge)
HOW TO MAKE PURE PROTEIN PORRIDGE
To make my pure protein porridge, I used Further Food’s gelatin and collagen! It not only makes a delicious porridge, it also gives your body a lot of benefits!
Further Food’s Gelatin and Collagen both come from grass-fed, pasture-raised animals and are rich in the amino acids your body uses to build and repair connective tissue. While they’re closely related, they serve slightly different functions in the body and in the kitchen—making them powerful companion supplements for skin, joints, gut health, and metabolic support.
Detailed Explanations
Further Food Collagen
How it works:
Collagen peptides are hydrolyzed (broken down), so they dissolve easily in hot or cold liquids and are absorbed quickly into the bloodstream.
Key Benefits:
-
Improves Skin Elasticity & Hydration
Supports the collagen matrix beneath the skin, helping smooth fine lines. -
Strengthens Hair & Nails
Provides the building blocks for keratin structure. -
Supports Joint & Cartilage Repair
Supplies amino acids needed for collagen turnover in joints and connective tissue. -
Easy to Digest & Highly Absorbable
Because the peptides are hydrolyzed, they place minimal stress on digestion. -
Complements High-Protein / Keto Nutrition
Collagen is lower in tryptophan, making it an ideal balancer alongside muscle meat.
Further Food Gelatin
How it works:
Gelatin is collagen that has not been hydrolyzed, so it dissolves only in hot liquids and gels when cooled—which provides unique gut and joint benefits.
Key Benefits:
-
Strengthens Gut Lining & Soothes Digestion
Forms a protective, healing film along the intestinal mucosa. -
Supports Joint Resilience & Connective Tissue Repair
High glycine + proline content feeds cartilage regeneration. -
Encourages Calm & Better Sleep
Glycine activates the parasympathetic nervous system—promoting relaxation. -
Helps Balance Muscle-Meat Amino Acids
Useful in diets high in steak, poultry, and eggs to balance methionine metabolism. -
Useful as a Functional Thickener
Makes nutrient-dense gummies, puddings, marshmallows, broths, sauces.
Personal Touch
You already emphasize protein first and metabolic health.
Collagen and gelatin are the structural side of protein—they build the framework of the body, including:
-
joints
-
fascia
-
ligaments
-
gut lining
-
cartilage
-
skin
So while steak and eggs build muscle, gelatin and collagen help keep you bendable, resilient, mobile, and aging gracefully.
This pairing fits beautifully with your message of long-term metabolic and structural health—not just macros.

Favorite Go to Favorite RecipesEquipment
Ingredients
- 4 large egg whites (or 2 whole eggs)
- 1/3 cup unsweetened low fat coconut milk (or heavy cream)
- 1 scoop Further Food Vanilla Collagen
- 1 tablespoon Further Food gelatin
- 1 teaspoon apple extract (or other extract like blueberry extract)
- ground cinnamon for garnish
- 1/8 teaspoon Redmond Real Salt
OPTIONAL:
- 1/2 teaspoon stevia glycerite
- blueberries for garnish
Instructions
- In a small food processor, place the eggs. Sift in the gelatin. Then add the coconut milk, collagen, extract, salt, and if using, sweetener.
- In a lightly greased medium saucepan, over medium heat, add the egg mixture to the pan and cook until the mixture thickens and small curds form, all the while scraping the bottom of the pan and stirring to keep large curds from forming. (A whisk works well for this task.) This will take about 4 minutes. Optional: place the mixture into a food processor and pulse until you get small pieces of “rice”. Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl.
- Pour unsweetened coconut milk over the mixture just before serving. Best served warm. Top with cinnamon and blueberries if desired.
