Last week I had the honor of being a speaker on Jimmy Moore’s Low Carb Cruise! And what an amazing experience it was!

I started the presentations out with a speech on success stories. Then I had the opportunity to hear some amazing speakers such as Dr. Eric Westman! The passion of the ketogenicΒ lifestyle filled the room. If you would like to watch our presentations click HERE. If they aren’t all uploaded yet, they will be soon.

On the days we stopped at the islands of St. Martin and St. Thomas, I jumped in a taxi and made my way to the nearest beach to spend my days snorkeling in the water. One day I saw a HUGE barracuda!

I am a very quiet person that thought I was going to be overwhelmed by all the people on the cruise, but the friendships I made was totally worth being away from my family… even though I cried a lot when I talked to them at night:)

    Thanks for sharing…I see a Low Carb cruise in my future. You look great…I noticed that you are petite too, I myself stand at only 4’11” tall, are we twins?

    I love your blog and have ordered two of your books so far. I have been eating a Ketogenic diet for 8 weeks now and suddenly I am afflicted with a serious case of dandruff which I have never had an issue with before.

    I keep my macros in the correct ranges and track everything I eat daily. For the most part I feel great and really enjoy eating this way. I added exercise 6 weeks ago and go the gym 4-6 days each week – both cardio and weights.

    My main concern right now is – why the sudden severe dandruff and itchy scalp? What can I do to help it?

      Hmm, I’m not sure about that. If anything, most people have fuller softer hair eating lots of healthy fats.

      That can be a good option. Milk thistle is great for cleansing the liver. πŸ™‚

    Maria, I so appreciate your sincerity (as I know so many others do as well) in sharing your vulnerabilities. I was so sorry for not being able to have made the cruise this year, but hope that I get to next year. Either way, I also hope I get to meet you and Craig face-to-face some day.

    Hi Maria, I just listened to a podcast from last year and can’t wait to hear the latest! I was curious if you have had any clients experience exercise induced asthma after beginning/following a keto diet. I have been coughing and wheezing after running races or hard runs since going keto. Do you think there might be a connection with dairy products?

      I would cut the dairy for a while. Most clients see reductions in asthma symptoms eating this way. πŸ˜‰

    I’d just like to make a couple of suggestions to Lori (with dandruff):-Lori I found I had an itchy scalp, but when I increased my coconut oil consumption, it disappeared. C.oil is a great hair conditioner too! πŸ™‚
    Also, why are you exercising so much? When you increase exercise, you need to increase saturated fat intake.

      Hi Naomi in response to your suggestion for Lori with dandruff –
      I too am having horrible scalp issues and skin issues in general. Dermatitis, psoriasis etc. I didn’t have before I eliminated all grains. This started about the same time or shortly after. When you say increase coconut oil consumption by how much? I use it in cooking and I also take coconut oil capsules daily, (I don’t really like the taste)but it seems to be getting worse. Could it be caused by the change in diet? I hope not because I love the way I feel, not shaky and hangry. I am running out of things to try.

        Hey Susie,
        I just thought I’d let you know I also had this problem when changing my diet. It can be caused by your body killing off yeast, and this happens when you eliminate grains.
        Coconut oil is great both internally and externally, and I actually rubbed it into my scalp as well when the itching was really bad. Another good idea is to take a good quality probiotic to assist your body during this process.

    Lori: I has the same sort of issue: really bad eczema. Taking fairly high doses of evening primrose oil along with B12 resulted in huge improvements.

    Hi Maria! I have tried your recipes and have loved most of them, but am finding I get pretty intense indigestion from the sugar substitue recommended (Swerve). Any suggestions? Thank you!
