Protein Sparing Orange Julius

I once LOVED getting an Orange Julius when I would go school shopping with my mom when I was in high school. I actually thought they were healthy and I would forgo lunch and drink a huge Orange Julius instead!

It has been decades since I’ve had an Orange Julius but my homemade Orange Julius is so delicious and filled with protein!

If you are looking for an easy protein sparing shake, this PSMF Orange Julius recipe is for you!

The egg white powder in my homemade protein shake gives the shake a perfect texture that reminds me of an Orange Julius from my childhood!

I added Further Food vanilla collagen to my protein sparing Orange Julius for an extra health boost!

1/3 of the protein in your body is collagen: skin, hair, nails, joints, gut, bones, ligaments.

Collagen doesn’t support muscle but it does support other parts of a healthy body. Especially our gut!

  1. Can help with skin elasticity and aging. This means when losing a lot of weight it can help the skin shrink better, reduce wrinkles and cellulite
  2. It can help strengthen hair and reduce hair loss
  3. Improves joint health
  4. Builds bone strength
  5. Contains 18 amino acids that help muscle and ligament repair and recovery
  6. Contains glycine that helps with immune system health and helps with digestion

  • SM says:

Can anything else be subbed for the further food collagen? I have plain gelatin powder, protein powder, more egg white powder?
    Thank you in advance!

    • Maria Emmerich says:

You can use any brand or flavor of collagen you want. Gelatin will not work for this recipe. More egg white protein powder is fine, but the consistency won’t be the same 🙂

  • CSB says:

This tastes amazing and it is so easy to make. Thank you for the great recipe!!!

  • Karen says:

How much is 2 scoops of collagen ? I have a different brand.

  • Dmarie says:

This is off topic, but re your supplement guide, I am taking a magnesium that is chelated but is giving me loose stools. Why would this happen- does it vary from brand to brand?

    • Maria Emmerich says:

What brand are you using? Many have bad ingredients. If you are experiencing loose stools, try reducing the dosage and slowly adding back when loose stools resolve.

      • Dmarie says:

It is KAL, chelated but the KAL Glycinate Id been taking was out of stock. Could that be the difference?

  • Shimmie says:

Hi! Sounds delicious…look forward to trying it. Just two questions and thanks in advance!

    1. Do you recommend any other protein powder types in the case of someone following autoimmune protocol?

    2. Separately, what brand of egg-white powder did you use?

  • Joey says:

This is SO delicious! Thank you! Is the nutritional information per serving or for the total recipe?

  • yummy delicious! I just saw you (again) at KetoCon. thanks for the Air Fryer book! I made this with unflavored Cashew milk, just cuz that’s what I had on hand. I added a dash of vanilla. Perfect in this 103 degree Texas heat. I’m sure you’ll be glad to get back to Wisconsin.
