Adoption Update
After 2 1/2 years, we finally have our referrals…yes, I said referrals. We only expected one, but God is placing us with 2 beautiful boys. Micah is just over 1 and Kai is only 1 month old. They aren’t blood brothers. We have a lot of information on Micah, who was left at the orphanage by his mother at 9 months. But we don’t have any information on the baby, he was abandoned at birth.
We will be traveling sometime in January to sign the court papers (we can then post photos), come home, then return to Ethiopia 3 weeks later to pick them up! I can’t wait! A bit nervous too…I don’t have anything ready, let alone have 2 of everything!

i discovered your blog and have been checking in daily for just a few months now – i am totally obsessed!! but honestly, i didnt even know about your pursuit to adopt – that is so awesome – you obviously have two very lucky (and hopefully hungry) children coming into your life!! i will definitely be purchasing some of your cookbooks and hoping that the small contribution will continue to help you in your quest! best wishes!
That is wonderful–congratulations! I had no idea when I bought your books that it would supporting adoption, and now I’m EXTRA glad I did (oh, and for the books too, of course). 🙂

Maria, that is amazing! God is so good. I am very happy for you and your husband. You will both have a ready-made family all at once. I also have two sons – well, they are grown now. With such a small age difference, your sons should grow up being good friends. That’s always a bonus.
You are very organized and I don’t doubt you’ll be a great mother. I adopted a doggie recently, and although it is not remotely the same, I love on him even more, because I know he was love-deprived. You’ll probably find that as well.
