High Protein Ice Cream made from Chicken Breast (no protein powders)
My friends who came to visit me last summer, ate the Pure Protein Ice cream just about every night when they were in town and they lost a lot of weight! I love how delicious protein ice cream can help people lose weight and feel great!
One complaint was that ice cream was too expensive, so my friend Aubrey decided to make protein ice cream with chicken breast! This isn’t her recipe, but she certainly gave me this idea!
HOW TO MAKE HIGH PROTEIN ICE CREAM
To make my homemade protein ice cream, I added Chocolate Caramel LMNT in homemade ice cream is a tasty way to combine dessert enjoyment with functional hydration and recovery benefits—perfect for active, low-carb, or keto lifestyles.
🍫 Why Chocolate Caramel LMNT Works in Ice Cream
1. Rich, Dessert-Like Flavor
-
The deep cocoa and sweet caramel notes create a flavor profile that pairs beautifully with creamy ice cream bases.
-
Gives a “gourmet” twist to high-protein or keto ice cream without adding sugar.
2. Electrolyte Replenishment
-
1000 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium, 60 mg magnesium per packet.
-
Supports hydration, nerve signaling, and muscle contraction—helpful if you enjoy it as a post-workout treat or after sauna sessions.
3. Performance & Recovery Boost
-
Protein in your ice cream base aids muscle repair, while LMNT’s electrolytes help replenish minerals lost in sweat.
-
Great option for endurance athletes or strength trainers who want a cool-down dessert with functional benefits.
4. Low-Carb & Keto Friendly
-
No added sugar—sweetness comes from stevia and monk fruit.
-
Works perfectly in keto or high-protein ice cream recipes, keeping blood sugar stable.
It is unbelievable how perfect using LMNT works for a protein packed dessert!
It’s great having LMNT as a healthy option for people. I have been consulting clients for over 20 years now and in the past, I would get a lot of parents asking me what their kids can drink if I do not recommend Gatorade. Now I recommend LMNT! It is like Gatorade without the sugar or food dye and it works perfect to pack when traveling.

- When ready to consume, allow to sit on the counter for 10 minutes (or sit in hot water for 1 minute). Making sure it doesn't get too liquidy yet soft.
- Place in the Ninja Creami on the “lite” setting. This will spin for about 3 minutes. Check consistency and if you desire a creamier texture, run the mixture on the “gelato” setting. Depending on your desired texture, will determine your settings. Enjoy!

TESTIMONY OF THE DAY
“I began keto at 50 in 2018 but I was between 300-350 since ‘87. Thank you and Craig for the work you do! I couldn’t have done it without you!” -Reagan

Can you use a regular ice cream maker??
Sorry, it won’t work well without a Ninja Creami or similar technology.
can you do this without the creami maker? This is not something I would make often and it would not be a good purchase! Can you Please answer?
Sorry, it won’t work well without a Ninja Creami or similar technology.
I don’t have a ninja creami maker, will this recipe work in my cuisinart compressor ice cream maker?
Sorry, it won’t work well without a Ninja Creami or similar technology.
Hi Maria,
How about using milk or cream, instead of coconut milk?
Thanks,
Avery
You can do that, just be sure to account for the additional macros. Milk is probably too high carb but cream is fine.
FYI, for those who, like me, do not have access to a Ninja Creami, my 20-year-old Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker handled this well, though I prefer the flavor and texture of Maria’s Protein Ice Cream recipe published in August, ‘25.
Whether the Cuisinart produces the same texture as the Creami, I don’t know, but it does a fine job of turning this batch of ingredients into ice cream.
Hi Maria! I don’t mean to be obtuse, but what weight is (cooked) 1/4 cup boneless skinless chicken breasts? Doesn’t it depend on how well it’s chopped? Sorry for the dumb question. Ty!!
Not a problem. 1/4 cup cooked chopped chicken breast weighs roughly between 35-41 grams.
