Hawaiian Carnivore Fried “Rice”
While we were in Hawaii, I was inspired to write a recipe for Hawaiian Fried “Rice” and I also wanted to make it protein sparing and carnivore for all of you!
There is no rice or cauliflower rice in this recipe!
To be totally honest, I never liked nor ate cauliflower rice. It always made the house stink and it gave me gas. I have been eating zero-carb for many years. My body does best with zero carbs. So instead of cauliflower rice, I use egg whites to whisk into rice! It is so much more flavorful than white rice!

Hawaiian Carnivore Fried "Rice"
Ingredients
- 1 cup liquid egg whites
- 1 tablespoon Further Food gelatin
- 2 tablespoons beef broth
- 1 teaspoon wheat-free tamari or fish sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon pineapple extract optional
- 1/2 cup leftover lean ham
- 2 tablespoons diced onions or green onion
- 1/4 teaspoon minced garlic or roasted garlic
OPTIONAL GARNISH
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- Thinly sliced scallions
Instructions
- Place the egg whites into a medium-sized bowl and whisk in the gelatin. Allow to sit for 3 minutes for the gelatin to dissolve. Add the broth, tamari and pineapple extract if using and whisk until well combined.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, place the ham, onions and garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onions are soft, about 2 minutes.
- Make the “rice”: Pour the egg mixture into the skillet and cook until the mixture thickens and small curds form, while scraping the bottom of the pan and whisking to keep large curds from forming. (A whisk works well for this task.) This will take about 4 minutes.
- Place the “rice” on a platter. Garnish with crushed red pepper and scallions, if desired, and serve.
- This tastes great with my protein sparing Bourbon Chicken!
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the shrimp fried “rice” in a lightly greased sauté pan over medium heat, stirring often, for 2 minutes or until warmed through.

TESTIMONY OF THE DAY
“AAAH Maria! So after a week of pure protein (which was MUCH easier than I’d imagined) I lost almost 12 lbs, and I have not taken my acid reflux meds in 3 days!
You are a miracle worker. I have been on those (and a host of other meds) for 8+ years!
Love you! Nicole”
