How Many Calories Do I Need?
How Many Calories Do I Need?
Are you still afraid of the starvation-mode myth??? I get asked all the time “Am I eating enough food?”. When you follow a ketogenic lifestyle your T3 slows down which slows down your metabolism a bit. This is great as you don’t need as many calories each day and it has been shown in many animals that a little lower T3 is great for health. So how many calories do I need?

TESTIMONY OF THE DAY
“I started keto last May after trying other diets for 7 months. I know my starting weight was over 250—once I hit 250, I was too frightened to weigh myself again! I now weigh 154 thanks to Maria and keto. I had hit a 2 month plateau and tried cutting out dairy and nuts. No results. Then I cut out 99% of alternative sweetener use (felt almost addicted to fat bombs and baked goods) and joined Sugar Addicts Support Group (where I learned a lot about all of the alternative sweetener choices). The weight has started to drop again! I’m eating meats, veggies, eggs, and fats—very simple. Also using intermittent fasting and happy eating 2 meals a day.” – Pam
While it’s good for the environment that we dont need so many calories, as people who want to lose weight, they want to be able to have a high metabolism so they can burn them, do they not? So I don’t see lower T3 as such a good sign.
hi there, the video discusses your question really well. did you get to listen to the video???
He says that he can function just fine with a lower metabolism. But if you want to lose weight, you want to have a higher metabolism to burn off the calories. It just makes sense that way. I listened to the entire video but it doesn’t say that this really benefits weight loss.

Always great to hear from Mark. Thanks for sharing
I’m nursing my infant and I was wondering how many calories I should be eating? I’m already at my pre-pregnancy weight just to maintain and stay healthy.
I would use our Keto Calculator on the blog;)
Hi Michelle, simply wondering if you stayed Keto during your pregnancy? I’m 19 weeks pregnant…
Thanks!
My T3 was a bit low last labs. The comment posted at the top said you need a faster metabolism to lose weight which is the prevailing opinion. Can you address this Maria? Thank you!
