Testimonies of the Day

30 Day Accelerated Meal Plan Testimony: “Healing really does happen BEFORE you lose the weight. That really is WHY it comes off, when it finally does LOL

I took 2.5 mos to lose much at all, esp compared to how much i have to lose. Now, it’s sliding off and i’m enjoying my meals; almost no snacking anymore either–even tho they were healthy snacks, i have no more need of snacks. FREEDOM JOY HOPE”

Do not get discouraged on your journey! You deserve this!

Keto-Adapted Book Testimony: “I have Hoshimotos and 4 years ago my condition flared up and I started gaining weight no matter how much or little I ate. I tried all types of diets and diet pills and I would initially lose a few pounds then all of a sudden I would gain the lost weight back plus more weight. I was so discouraged! My daughter started trying to figure out what might be happening to me and determined that I might not be carb and gluten tolerant. She found Maria, mind body health for me on Facebook and a few other sites that talked about a sugar free and gluten free life style change. I made the decision to see what it could do for me and I have lost 27 pounds so far since January. I knew I still had lots to learn about my body and what has happened to it so I bought Maria’s book Keto-Adapted. Maria, your book is helping me understand, thank you so much.” – Deb

    Hi Maria,
So excited about your new book! Just so I am clear, does the new book have all the recipes from the other 3 books? Or is it partial from each book? I want to know if the new book would replace the other 3 and I wouldn’t be missing anything….thanks so much! You are the best!

It is 100% of the recipes (most with beautiful new photos) and 100% of the nutritional tips and info from all 3 books. It is really beautiful and Big. I think it weighs 3 pounds! Thank you!

  • Nadine says:

It looks absolutely beautiful! Are you able to ship the book to Canada?

  • Olya says:

Beautiful start to my day: I just ordered your book. Somehow having a hard copy makes all of the difference:)

  • laura says:

    Yes! Canadian shipping available?

  • Belinda says:

This is a GREAT idea Maria!!!
I have a small kitchen with very limited space for my cook books. Buying the condensed book instead of 3 separate books allows me to utilize the space better.

Now I can ” have my cake and eat it too!” 🙂

  • laura says:

I have eliminated gluten, most grains, sugar and now working on Dairy. I am suffering from chronic headaches and now a little dizziness. Could this be from lack of carbs?

    • Donna says:

When I was converting to this new lifestyle, I too was getting headaches and leg cramps at night. I reread the instructions and after adding additional salt to my diet, and drinking more water, it stopped. Drinking a cup of boullion is an easy way to do this.

      • laura says:

Thanks Donna. I thought maybe low blood pressure. I have had headaches and leg cramps before but now the headaches are constant

        • cemmerich says:

You can try magnesium too if you aren’t already taking it. 🙂

When you are eating high-carb, eventually you go into a state called hyperinsulinism, meaning your insulin is nearly always elevated, and often to an abnormal degree. Insulin just happens to signal the kidneys to retain sodium. This is why you get high blood pressure if you have metabolic syndrome–it is all the insulin being elevated, and the higher BP after eating salt is just a symptom.

When you go ketogenic on the other hand, your insulin is finally allowed to drop normally in between meals (it always elevates when you eat carbs and protein, but then it’s supposed to drop again). That means your kidneys are allowed to dump any excess sodium rather than hang on to it. The result is your BP normalizes. Unfortunately, if no one has told you that you need to eat salt now, you can go into sodium *deficiency* to a degree. Muscle cramps are an early sign of this, and headaches can be as well.

I use Real Salt (a brand of sea salt) and get not only sodium but some trace minerals as well. Whole Paycheck carries it and so does Amazon. You may be able to find it at local health food shops too.

    • cemmerich says:

Yes, make sure to get enough water and electrolytes (salt and potassium). Your liver releases much of the salt (and associated water) it holds onto with higher carb diets. 🙂

      • laura says:

I will try that. Also have not lost any weight. I have tried everything and am a little frustrated. Any advice?

        • cemmerich says:

Well, it can depend on a couple things. I have helped many clients with my 30 day accelerated meal plans who thought they were doing everything right and found that following the plans helped. Also, everyone is different, some lose faster than other and some peoples bodies take longer to heal. Here is a recent testimony I got form a client.
“It took my body a bit longer to acclimate and begin the fat burning process but I did not give up. I kept hard at it, as well as exercising faithfully. By week 8 I began to see some changes. My clothes began to get loose, and by month 3 I had lost 20lbs.”

          • laura says:

Thank you. I have purchased “secrets to controlling cravings” and am in the process of implementing supplements as well. Thanks for all you do!

  • You should do a combination book of all your nutritional books like the metabolism one and moods and horomones one for example!

  • Liese says:

I love the convenience of looking at your recipes on line, and I already have several of your other books in softcover, but to have all the recipes in one place is a big PLUS. I hope you don’t mind that I share some of the recipes you’ve posted on your website with others. I don’t have the time or interest in having my own blog.
But I can direct them here, and they can read for themselves, if they so desire. But not all of my brothers or sisters choose to, or have Internet access. For this reason, having a nice hardcover book will be a wonderful way to share our work with them.

As you know, I am experiencing some health concerns at the present moment, but I know they are simply temporary. In my opinion, the Keto path opened itself up to me, just when I needed it the most! Just like God never gives us more than we can handle, he also puts people, things, and situations in our lives, at the perfect time.

Looks like I got me a new Coffee Table Book!

I do have one question though, does the new book contain metric measurements? I like to weigh my ingredients vs. measuring everything out. I find it faster and easier to calculate nutritional facts this way. If not, I’ll take the book anyway, but perhaps you would consider adding metric measurements to your next book?

Opps, one more question. Can I order it directly from you, or would you rather I go through Amazon? It would be so cool to get an autographed copy from one of my favorite authors! Especially, since I can’t join you in Wisconsin for one of your classes!

    • cemmerich says:

Thanks! Sorry, I don’t have metric measurements included, sorry. I will definitely consider for my next one! 🙂

  • Liese says:

What I meant to say was….having a nice hardcover book will be a wonderful way to share YOUR work with them. Maybe someday we can swap recipes, but I need to heal first 🙂

  • Jenny W. says:

amazon.de has not listetd it yet 🙁
Is there a way to ship it to Germany?

  • Veronica says:

I just ordered it, I am sooo excited, I love technology, but a good old book is what I prefer when I am in the kitchen, instead of having my screen time out. 😉 Thanks for all your work, I have transformed my life. I am about 3 months in and down 32 pounds, and for the first time in my life, not hungry while “dieting”. This lifestyle change has been the best and once prepared, easiest thing I have done. THANKS Maria!!!

  • Kristin says:

In 2012 I went sugar/wheat free, and felt great- lost 10 lbs, lost joint pain, had tons of energy. At about 12-18 monts into it, though, I started not feeling as good, hair started falling out, and low energy & gaining some weight back. Now I am struggling to know what to do. Keep eating very low carb/high fat & lose all my hair? Go back to eating carbs & maybe get hair back, but gain weight? I feel stuck! Any advice? My symptoms right now sound like hypothyroidism to me.

    • cemmerich says:

Not sure. I would have to see some blood test (full thyroid panel) at part of a health assessment. 🙂

  • Kristen J says:

    Maria,
Quick question for you: I have been fighting a sinus infection for a couple of months now (had it before I started eating your way)
Yesterday I was prescribed a hefty dose of antibiotics to get rid of it once and for all. I am hesitant to take them because I feel like I am finally on the path to healing my gut. On the other hand, I REALLY need some relief from the infection. If I do take the antibiotics do you have any suggestions for supplements or probiotics to take while taking antibiotics?

  • connie N says:

    Maria
I am interested in this book but you say it has 100% of the nutritional tips.
Does that mean you have all the nutritional information like Cal, Fat, Protien, Carbs and so on?
    That is important to me.

I am baking your Lemon Bars right now. Used coconut butter melted, it was so thin I added more Almond and Coconut flour. I hope it turns out. Maybe I wasn’t suppose to melt it.

    Thank You for your recipes

  • jodi says:

oooh cant wait to treat myself to this book next pay day!!!!

  • Ellen says:

Your book arrived yesterday. I had one of them in ebook, but I too prefer a real book when cooking. I love the brownies, have given them to people and they cannot believe when I tell them it is made with avacados.
Love the recipes and the advice.

  • Bernice says:

    Hi Maria,
What do you suggest for going keto when you have a nut allergy? Makes flours, etc really hard.

  • Rach says:

Any chance of an ebook version? I imagine postage to the uk would be pretty bad

  • Barri Fogel says:

    Hi Maria,
Just got this cookbook for Mother’s Day and I’m so excited!! Just had one question. I’m dairy free and I saw your suggestions for substitutions for butter, cream etc. But I was wondering what is your favorite cheese substitute. (I know you don’t like soy) Or, should I just leave the cheese out? Thanks for all of the wonderful recipes!

  • Shell says:

Hi Maria, not sure if anyone asked this question, but I went to Amazon to order the hardcover and they only have the paperback. I have been waiting for several weeks but with no luck. Can I buy the hardcover from you or can you direct me to another website?
