How To Blow Out Eggs

Follow these easy steps on how to blow out eggs.

How To Blow Out Eggs

STEP 1: Poke 2 holes in a raw egg using a needle or the end of a paperclip. Eggs typically have one end that’s smaller and pointier. Pierce the smaller end first, and then poke a hole in the wider end.

The holes need to be big enough so you can forcefully blow out the egg contents. To do this continue to poke with the needle around the holes. Don’t make the holes too large, it is crazy how small of a hole is needed to blow out the insides.

STEP 2: Reach into the egg with the needle or the end of a paperclip and pierce the yolk to break up the membrane. I have blown out eggs without doing this step and it makes it much harder!

STEP 3: Set a clean bowl out to catch the inside of the eggs (which we saved for breakfast the next morning). Place your mouth around one of the holes and blow (see Micah’s photo). Blow until the contents are out of the egg. Rinse with water. You can also rinse the inside with a syringe.

STEP 4: Dry the insides. Place eggshells in the microwave on high for 30 seconds or let them dry with one hole pointing downward for draining for 3 days.

STEP 5: Decorate!

Maria, the Reuben Sandwich looks awesome! Where is the recipe for the dressing? I have all your books.
Love the protein bread, My buns fell like flat pancakes, but I spread the top with butter, sea salt, and fresh rosemary. Delicious!! Kind of like savory crackers:)

hey Maria, I learned to do this from my aunt. in Germany we do this a lot. they also take very light tissue paper, from pretty napkins and decoupage the egg. then you can put a wire through them and form an egg wreath to hang up. thanks again for all you do..

    Maria,
Jut an off topic question. Can you discuss your views on the “Ideal Protein Diet” that is being pushed quite heavily lately by medical docs. It is touted as being ketogenic, yet is considered to be low calorie, low carb, low fat, and fairly high protein. I say fairly high as they don’t really say high protein, just the ideal amount of protein??

Phase 1 of this diet is roughly around 900 calories per day, so I can see where the weight loss would be coming from. And I can see where the protein is satiating. But wouldn’t the high protein also kick you out of ketosis.

Just curious…as this is a lot dofferent from the typical LCHF with moderate protein approaches.

    • Maria Emmerich says:

Well, fat is much more satiating than protein. Plus too much protein will spike your blood sugar. Also, high protein diets can be hard on your kidneys so it is obviously a quick fix, not something to be done for a lifetime like this lifestyle is. 🙂

  • Hélène says:

FAT is much more satiating. Utterly so.
If ur hungry and its less than like 6 hrs since you’ve least eaten…ur not eating enough fat.
I “IF” from 6pm to 9am, have 2T coconut oil and then eat again finally at noon or 1pm. Today I didnt eat till 2pm.
I cant imgine IF-ing without high fat.
I cant imagine satiation without high fat.
Ive certainly never had it anyway. Before consistent high fat and vlc.

This is a little off topic as well…your kids are the cutest!! You are blessed. Oh, and love the keto lifestyle. Thank you.
